~Week Later~

It was evening when Desert and his small band were getting ready to settle for the night, he and Kaylee had grown closer.  His friends still treated like head stallion and never raised a question about it or protest. Desert never asked for this....any of this...sighing he walked towards the small stream and sighed heavily. He was living a lie, not telling them why he was really here...he abandoned his herd, his family because he was a coward. The legacy of his father and their father before them....he was a disgrace to their linage. He would never be able to be the son his father wanted him to be, there was no way he would defeat Murtough....not in any way...he'd never be able to return to Isaly...

I am a question to the world,
Not an answer to be heard
Or a moment that's held in your arms.
And what do you think you'd ever say?
I won't listen anyway…
You don't know me,
And I’ll never be what you want me to be.

And what do you think you'd understand?
I'm a boy, no, I'm a man..
You can't take me and throw me away.
And how can you learn what's never shown?
Yeah, you stand here on your own.
They don't know me 'cause I'm not here.

And I want a moment to be real,
Wanna touch things I don't feel,
Wanna hold on and feel I belong.
And how can the world want me to change?
They’re the ones that stay the same.
They don’t know me,
'Cause I’m not here.

And you see the things they never see
All you wanted, I could be
Now you know me, and I'm not afraid
And I wanna tell you who I am
Can you help me be a man?
They can't break me
As long as I know who I am

And I want a moment to be real,
Wanna touch things I don't feel,
Wanna hold on and feel I belong.
And how can the world want me to change?
They’re the ones that stay the same.
They can’t see me,
But I’m still here.

They can’t tell me who to be,
‘Cause I’m not what they see.
Yeah, the world is still sleepin’,
While I keep on dreamin’ for me.
And their words are just whispers
And lies that I’ll never believe.

And I want a moment to be real,
Wanna touch things I don't feel,
Wanna hold on and feel I belong.
And how can they say I never change?
They’re the ones that stay the same.
I’m the one now,
‘Cause I’m still here.

I’m the one,
‘Cause I’m still here.
I’m still here.
I’m still here.
I’m still here.

Sighing heavily, Desert shook his mane and walked out of the grove into the clearing beside it. He looked up at the stars and closed his gold eyes. When he opened them he was a bit startled by the mist swirling around his hooves, what the...

"Desert Fire" A soft gentle voice spoke his full name, he looked up shocked to see a snow white mare walking out of the mist. He took a couple steps back from her as she approached him.

"What the hell" he cursed. "Who are you..." He asked quickly, she laughed lightly.

"My name is Ghost, I come from the High Mountains of Islay...in seek of you" Ghost replied softly, his ears went straight back.

"You've got the wrong stallion" He snorted then turned back to head towards his small band, but the mare appeared in front of him, he halted quickly. "Listen, I cant do anything or help you with anything. Murtough banished me. I go back to Islay, I die and so does my mother" Desert snapped.

"Desert Fire, son of Firestorm and Dustfury, you must return to Islay before it's too late. You are part of something bigger than yourself." Ghost stated, there was a bit of obstinate in her voice.

"What does a Mystic want to do with me. Go back to your mountains, they are no longer my home" He stated firmly.

"I am Ghost, daughter of Shadowstorm and Starseer of the Lunar Herd. And the mountains are still your home Desert Fire, son of Firestorm. And if you do not listen to me than more than just your mother will die!" Ghost snapped at him. "Horses from every herd will die, and then what is to stop Murtough from reigning over the lower mountains? Desert Fire, you must listen to me. You must return to Islay!" She stated, this got his attention.

"What are you talking about!" Desert demanded, a look of relied crossed over the white mare's face.

"Let me show you..." Ghost replied, soon the mist began to circle them becoming so thick he could see nothing but mist and Ghost, who's blue eyes now were glowing white.  Strangely something began to ripple in the Mist, scenes of horses at war with each other. Murtough brutally killing other stallions, the lead stallions from every herd fighting each other in a bloody battle....Ghost began to speak, her voice like an ancient echo..

Four pieces of fabric, all different in their own way.

"The heir of a lost King,
who doubts himself and the journey
Hope of the mountains wrests on his shoulders alone."

**The mist rippled again and a new scene became clear, Desert saw himself galloping away from the Canyon herd, murtough's wicked face. Then it switched to an image of his capture by the humans...it switched again to him and his small band galloping through the forest, but he didn't remember when that happened...**

"A princess offered a kingdom
but at a price she is not willing to pay,
the odds against her
with war at her borders
she must be ready to lead."

** The mist rippled again, changing to what looked like the Solar herd's land. A young but pretty golden palomino mare stood arguing with the lead stallion -- Bramblestorm. It also switched to a bay stallion being rejected by the young mare mulitple times, until the last scene where the bay was seen speaking with Murtough. Looking to be making some sort of deal with him. Then finally Murtough and his rouge stallions galloping towards the Solar Herd who were confused and defenceless, but the golden mare watched on the bluff in horror of the scene below**

The wild card,
delicate and fragile
is her mind and heart;
but easily swayed.
In her path lays
the brightest hope and the darkest evil.
Her choice may save us or doom us all.

** The scene changed again with the ripple of the Mist. This time a niave looking palomino paint young mare was grazing in a sweet little grove...Desert recognized the grove, it was on the edge of the Canyons near the Vale but on unclaimed territory. She looked sweet enough, but in the bushes the seen showed a white stallion with scars and black mane watching this filly....Croc...The scene switched to Murtough cooing the young filly and gently bringing her towards the herd. Then Desert himself and his band now, she crossed him on a mountain path talking quickly to him, she didn't seem to be alone but Desert couldn't see the other horses behind her.

The scene switched to a bloody war between the herds, then a harmonious eagel view of the herds at peace rock uniting. Desert himself was there standing between Kopa and Shadowstorm...**

The white daughter is both thread and piece
who must bind them together
To fulfill their truest destiny;
from their paths they must not stray.

**The scene changed once more to Ghost, talking to each of them. The Solar mare, the paint mare and Desert himself. Showing scenes of traveling through the mountains and forests, even a short encounter with Murtough himself.**

Finally the mist clear away from them, and Ghost's eyes came back to blue. Desert was in shock of what he had just herd and what he had just scene. The pull towards Islay became strong again, he must return home.

"Now you see, Desert, Islay needs you" Ghost said softly.

"But how...I can't go back, im in no form to battle Murtough!" Desert asked, she sighed as she looked at him, Mist began to swirl around her feet.

"I cannot tell you that, Desert Fire, Son of Firestorm. That is your journey....but if you ever need me, call my name into the Mist and I shall come..." Ghost said, he nodded but just as he were to ask a question, a familiar scent came to his mind and he looked over to the hills. Voices  and pounding hooves could be heard just over the crest.

"Humans!" He exclaimed.

"Go, Desert Fire, your path awaits you..." Ghost's voice said, he spun around and she was gone, only a small layer of mist remained, but it too began to fade.
