After the war ended he started spending all his money to buy things that were not really necessary, once his money was over he started borrowing from people, dangerous people. His debt became so big and it was obvious that Leonard was not going to return the money to them that these people wanted him dead. He managed to successfully escape from that place with his plane, and so, he moved to inkwell.
Once there and as he was trying to find new people to interact with, he found the devil (delightfully-devilish) , who at that moment was disguised as a simple goat. But the patience of the devil was not very big and Leo without realizing it destroyed it quickly. Satan now knowing who Leo’s friends were, manipulated Leo to work for him as a errand boy and then a jester.
