Overall
Vision
Originality
Technique
Impact
I rated the vision as 3.5 because this is a simple portrait of an OC, but the pose is a more classical one popular in the 1800s than the more traditional action pose. The problem is that the pose, not being an action shot, takes away from the impact of the piece.
Originality scores a 4.5, because although I am not a fan of furries, the composition of this particular one is incredibly striking, pulled up from a 4 because the technique and execution is exceptional.
A five for technique: the execution of her hair, the long elegant neck evoking the statue of Nefertiti, the placement and shaping of the ears, and the large expressive eyes looking in a direction that is typical of the style of portraiture of the time period I mentioned. The fabric folds of the canvas coat are well executed as well.
Overall impact a 4.5: pulled down by the vision, but very much pumped up by the technique. I initially felt a 4 was appropriate due to the vision, but the more I looked, the more I decided 4.5 was merited because of the spare detailing.
Favoriting this one, and coming from someone who is not particularly fond of furries, that is saying something! one would believe that the grace and elegance implied by the one wearing such a roughly beaten-up coat and simple shirt comes from this being some Anastasia, turned out of her palace by some unfortunate and unfair circumstance, but the palace never left the girl.
