Description
The scent of smoldering flesh stung the air to such a potent degree it was present through the air filters within her helmet. Normally the putrid aroma of blazing cells would be off putting as her heightened sense of smell made it all the more powerful. Today however, she reveled in it. Athena’s obsidian boot settled upon a point defense gauntlet that had found itself littered worthlessly among others whom had fallen with their bearers. The mechanism sputtered futilely with the residual power still left in the unit but its wavelengths went unnoticed, unable to penetrate the three inches of rubber beneath her. She knelt down onto a once thriving prairie, now laid to ruin by the unyielding war that had transpired among UNSC and Covenant forces for the best part of fourteen days. Before her, a charred skull of a Sangheili captain lay, stripped of flesh.

The Spartan, knowing the vicinity to be clear after a thorough sweep, promptly removed a helm of similar hue to the rest of her suit and settled it beside her. She knew not how long the bone had been there for it to nearly bare the face of the moon, howbeit, the second she scooped it up into her hands, she felt a grin creep along her lips. Athena rose with skull still in hand and stared into the depths of its sockets victoriously with a fire like those that burned by the ships commanded to wipe the surface. There was yet more battles to engage with, she eagerly awaited the order to proceed because by God did she live for every second of it!
