Description Abandon me.

Leave me cold and in the dark,
leave me to wither and shrivel and become small,
leave me to starve and suffer with hunger,
because I am starving for understanding.

If I could feel pain so deeply that it would change me,
maybe I could understand what it means to truly
be
human.

So, abandon me.

Leave me cold and in the dark.

I long for pain.

I long for humanity.

This is completely beautiful. I can relate to it on so many levels. Very good use of metaphorical concepts.

This is amazing, I thought I should comment but I don't really have anything to say.
It sort of seems like it would be better as a short story though, the stanzas are kinda...not stanzas. But that's okay because we all know it's meaning.

Can I give you a request? Pweas? Okay, you should do something about like a forgotten hero, or a forgotten love or something. You are very talented at writing deep and emotional things. ^^

It'd be interesting to read a poem of yours about an angel... That seems to be a topic everyone has their own unique view on. A forgotten angel, perhaps?

An angel? Hm. As in an angel of someone who has passed away, or a heavenly angel like from the Bible? I like the idea of writing about someone who has passed away who has been forgotten. With forgotten love I kind of liked the idea of unrequited love, or a childhood love where the lover has been forgotten and left behind by the person they love.

Well, you could do a poem about a lost soul who died without telling their secret lover how much they cared about them... That would be amazing.

You wrote this and I completely took it and ran and went crazy. It's probably not going to be what you're expecting, and I'm not done yet, but ooh I'm liking this so far. Should be up soon!

Oh, and it's not really a poem. You'll see.

Yeah, it's kind of an odd, contemporary poem. Free verse is pretty open but this is still a bit odd and some may not consider it poetry. Anyway, I'm glad you liked it! I'll definitely take your request! I'll try to write it ASAP. Do you care it's in poem form or short story form? It'll probably be poem but I'm not quite sure yet. I love writing things that are deep and emotional, for some reason. It sounds so cliche but I feel like I lose myself in my writing, sometimes. I read a quote of Earnest Hemingway recently on tumblr: "There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed." I don't know much about Hemingway (and I really should) but I couldn't describe it in a better way. So. Forgotten love/hero. I'm on it.
