Created for the Disney "Villains Gone Good" contest. I've always loved epic good vs evil battles, and the wizards duel in Disney's The Sword In The Stone is one of my favorites. Mad Madam Mim is crazy as they come AND she can transform herself into anything she wants.....SCARY! So I just thought if Mim had won the duel, it wouldn't have looked like this! But if she wasn't such a nut job, it might have. She might even have sang something a little different than "Black Sorcery Is My Cup of Tea". I know Merlin wouldn't have looked so smug if the tables were turned and he would have lost. I mean, I've never had Malignalitaloptereosis (say that three times fast), but I can't imagine it's something to smile about.Β.......and I'm not sure, but I think Archimedes has a Buckcherry song stuck in his head
I was away from most of my art supplies, so I used pencil, charcoal, and for the first time colored pencils. Hope it brings a smile and good luck to everyone who enters the contest.

Aww, great job! Your colours and their faces are spot on!I agree that Merlin would not take too kindly to being beaten in a duel. XD But if Mim were nice enough to care for him, that might sweeten his temper just a tad.

I remember when I was maybe around 6-7, all IΒ had availableΒ were crayons, and I would bust my thumb open trying to push hard enough to get even coverage with those useless things. When I found out about colored pencils, I instantly switched to using those. But I figured paint would be the best to get the even colors that I always saw on TV (...but I was pretty bad with paint when I tried it in high school).
I bought two packs of Prismacolor colored pencilsΒ awhile ago because someone mentioned them being quite a bit better than Crayola (I bought a few singles of them in the past, but hadn't used them because they were a dollar a piece and I didn't want to waste them, and now I don't have those). I used the Verithin pack to outline a pic I did, but I haven't tried the other pack yet. I need to try them out soon so I can compare the brands.

Hahahaha Getting even coverage is what I was getting frustrated about with this drawing, so I can relate! The Prismacolor pencils are the set I've seen referenced quite a bit by artists here and are what I was thinking of trying so thank you.
You should check out paints again though. I noticed you fav'd my Aladdin and Friends....thank you! I had the same experience with paints when I was younger and thought I'd give them another try recently and the Aladdin painting was the result

After giving away the old, used paints I had, then I thought it would be neat to try cell-painting. :P Though, I can't really find any cells to paint on anyhow. Maybe next time I'll think twice about giving away old art supplies.

The characters are spot on! The duel is one of my favorite scenes in that movie. She does remind me of a crazy grandma and crazy grandma's know how to make people feel better haha good job

Lol Merlin's expression is wonderful and I love how Mim is taking care of him while he's sick. I disliked her so much in that movie, she was creepy and weird, but great job, you drew her to appear more harmless
