Description Part of the Entwicklungsreihe, a series of tank designs intended to improve production through the simplification and standardisation of components, the E 100 was the largest and heaviest design of the program. Beginning in the middle of 1943, the project had a long and complicated development, and no finalized prototype, besides a single incomplete hull, was produced before the war ended in 1945. Completed, the monstrous vehicle would have been over 11 meters long, and weighted more than 120 tons. While impressive, it would however ultimately be a design of little purpose, as the German industry and logistics already struggled with vehicles half the weight of the E 100-- all in all, it ended up being nothing more than an unrealistic and unachievable project for the time, that failed to address the issues of German tank production of the Second World War.
