Among its own battleground,
Laughing, leaping, singing, hopping,
Making none but its own sound.

Higher, higher, into the night,
Roaring like a lion,
Rebellion until it comes to smite,
Saying it'll stop then lying.

Leaping, leaping, getting closer,
Almost touching the sky,
Now it's catching, getting warmer,
Telling all birds to fly.

Spreading, spreading, ever spreading,
Screams piercing the night,
Never knowing where you're heading
When people run 'way in fright.

Blazing, blazing, now it's blazing,
Never coming to an end,
Under the stars it looks amazing,
But everything needs to mend.

Lower, lower, almost done,
The blaze is now dwindling,
It had had it's share of fun,
But there's still remains of the kindling.

Charred pieces are the only remains,
But just remember, my dear young son,
The fire eternal will strike again.
