I agree here, Saw I was really a new spin on horror, but it was completely based on character development and a well thought out puzzle. In the second one, 2 people died before you could even remember what their names were, and its just downhill from there. When the main character dies in the third film, and you manage to squeeze 3 more films out of a franchise, you really have to ask how long you can beat a dead horse.

They were lucky enough to make the money needed to continue the story, so they will.

Look I get the little story behind the story deal, and I like how everyone has been connected, that part of the movies is the only reason I own all of them. I am only commenting on the quality of the puzzles has gone down from film to film, and when the real mastermind behind the good parts of the movie is dead halfway through the series, its really hard to give credit to the knock off cop that took his place. I mean if you want to start flaming and coming in with your holier than now attitude and your " well for your information" better get your facts straight.
Saw was a stand alone movie, nothing planned after it, no big elaborate 7 movie story. After it made a bunch of money, Lions Gate said hey lets run with it, and Leigh Whannell the screen writer, helped write the next two films. After that, new writers, and they plan on making up to Saw 8 which comes out in 2011, but again, they only decided to make more movies after the first one made money. So they can tack on as much story as they want to make it fit, but in the end, they will have to have a whole lot of duct tape to tie up the lose ends by Saw 8
