Description Moving on and along

"You think ghosts read books about ghosts and think it's novel?"
I didn't dare to look towards the voice of fear that they were talking to me and that would make me engaged in a conversation.
"What do you think?"
"Huh?"
"Do you think zombies enjoy reading books about zombie hordes and heroic survivors who survive against all odds?"
"You are making no sense."
"'Cuz WE are the zombies, dude. And the heroes, well, they are the rich. They need us just as more as we need them, the narrative cycle, we need someone to hate and they need someone to overcome."
"It's too early in the morning for this."
"Bro, it isn't even morning."
Outside it was a hazy purple sort of color, the sun hung low in the sky lighting up the undersides of clouds like a distant floodlight in a corridor.
"The rich use the same functions and logistics we use, they just paint it as a good for the masses, but in reality it's just for themselves. Like dude, don't you think the rich would poison the water if they figured out a poison that only worked on people with a yearly income of less than five hundred thousand dollars?"
Subways were a mistake. Nobody was moving in or out of the carriage and I figured having to listen to this man was expanding time somehow, each word coming out of their mouth miraculously moving my stop further and further away.
"But they do fear the zombie uprising, right now they have us in a tidy cage, slavering and clambering over ourselves, but eventually all cages crack and release their captives."
"Uh-huh."
"That's why I got this."
Their jacket shuffles and I glanced up at them, they were wearing an explosive vest. My heart stopped and I could feel my forehead lose all of its warmth, suddenly everything felt so clammy. But I quickly came to realize that the devices on him had already exploded, the fabric around the blackened and scorched. They didn't seem to notice this fact or were indifferent to it.
"A lil' hacksaw to let loose the horde, dude."
Somehow the sight of this device had suddenly brought back a memory of pain all over my left side that was not there, like shrapnel stuck all over me.
The sky had begun to turn darker red now as they had begun to move towards the exit.
"Welp, this is where I get off, I guess. You know what they say, dude, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, right?"
With a wink and a smile they jumped off the train and into the redness.
Outside it was now dark red, ominous black clouds moving rapidly along the misty backdrop. Soon the black clouds would envelop the subway, in some strange fashion they seemed alive, or something alive was moving with them, a horde of zombies or ghosts or something far more worse.
The subway sputtered back into motion, or maybe it just chugged momentarily and had been moving all this time, it was difficult to tell with no real reference points for distance outside the carriage. All the figures in the carriage were painted in a dark blood red in this light and seemed hostile and malicious shades who just had not noticed me, but certainly would scream and tear me apart once they did.
"Ticket, please."
One of the shades moved to the spot that was left vacant by the bomb guy.
"Haha, I am just kidding, no tickets needed on this here subway."
"Well that's a relief."
"You know why you're here?"
I looked at the shade, they were staring down at me, completely black apart from the deep red outline I could make out around their silhouette, their horns were long and swept around their head forming a sort of a heart shape. in between those horns they wore the hat of a subway conductor.
"I think I'm dead."
"Exactamundo."
The conductor made an exaggerated motion towards me with their finger.
"Sorry, I just recently picked up a taste for that phrase from someone."
"Where am I going?"
"You're going someplace else, we still have a few more stops to go through here, I'm afraid. When this place was designed they didn't have much eye for user experience, you see."
"oh..."
"Usually people are quite keen to know how they died and what happened, you know. But I think you already know what happened."
"I think so, yeah."
"And do you wonder who everyone else in this carriage is?"
"Sometimes the thought crosses my mind in the subway."
"Well, everyone here shares the same fate. But the character in the back over there, see, the one who seems most uncomfortable, as if they have never sat in a subway, that is your former boss, or the boss of your boss of your boss."
In the corner of the carriage sat a silhouette which stood out due to their posture that was unnaturally rigid, as if they were trying to look natural, but were failing at it.
"That's the special VIP who we still have to haul deeper yet, after they're off the tram, then we'll make a U turn back to the nicer places."
The tram was almost completely black now, a constant thrumming and droning had overtaken the subway. The horns in the conductors silhouette indicated they were now staring intently outside the window. The carriage jumped and shuddered. Soon all movement and sound would cease, what would only remain was dread, the dread and sensation that something terrible was in the dark, that soon, at whatever moment something would destroy the silence and the world would become alight just so you could see the thing for a moment as it leapt for your throat. But this was such dread that no such moment would ever come, it was torment of the deepest nestled in your head. The figure in the corner rose up and then fell out of the doors of the carriage. The conductor whispered to me.
"This place is reserved only for those who have the utmost deepest disregard for life, not hate or contempt, but indifference pure and absolute. For hate and anger can be redirected and made for good, but indifference is the final destruction of all humanity."
We had begun to move again. Soon the pure blackness would become red again, and then purple, pink and then blue. Along the way others would exit the carriage and before everyone had left the carriage I too had exited the tram.
