And then Super Mario Odyssey was confirmed to have an urban level. Nice!

"So Luigi. What do you think of this place?"

"Well, we're certainly not in Rome anymore."

I have a question to ask about this drawing... What technique exactly did you do in order to accomplish this blurry feeling? Since I'm also interested in doing an urban featured artwork with this kind of colouring and effects, in order to experiment. I may be a traditional artist, but I would still get an idea of what should I do to accomplish this.

well first off i use paint tool sai, so idk if this applies to other paint programs but i just used a combination of a slightly softer edged brush for the far away buildings/ shops and then i made a layer with the screen setting and using a light blue filled in the background (around the distant shops and sky), then stopped when i got closer to the foreground (thats how i made the background that washed out blue but the characters are still clear )

... that was really badly explained sorry lol, but all you need to know is the further away in distance something is, the more it blends into its surroundings, so all the buildings and people and things that are far away should all have a similar hue, just be slightly different enough to make out their shapes

The last paragraph is all I needed! Thank you so much! I'm asking because I got inspired of using similar colouring style as portrayed here, even though I'm using traditional media...

Again, thank you for taking your time to answer me.

Luigi looks kind of confused! ^^I love the use of colours in here! Great job, it's a shame it does not have as such recognition as it deserves...

aww thankyou so much Luigi lost his hat thats why he's puzzled, theres a little toad off to the side with his hat   i didn't do a very good job at emphasizing that though so it looks like he's lost or something haha

Oh well... And I said, "There's something wrong with Luigi's head", I didn't notice that his hat was missing! ^^ You mean Toad, I just saw it! Yeah... Well, I actually like the way it produces some kind of confusion in that picture, like a lot of stuff going on. That's what you would expect in a busy city! ^^
