Well, certainly using morning or evening light is one of my tricks. But usually, I look for light in whatever situation I'm in. I try to avoid harsh light in any case..
Thanks for your kind words!

I ask, because my husband goes mountain biking in Utah - he met a photographer who does beautiful work, but he will wait as much as a week or two - until he gets exactly the light that he wants; then he takes the photograph and walks home!
I just thought, if he is sitting and waiting, how many possible photographs he is ignoring. I am the spontaneous type, so I can hardly imagine being fixed on a goal like he is.

I think if you have the luxary of taking the time to do that, then it could work out. I however barely have time to tie my shoes on any given day and so must try to place myself in locations where the light can present itself to me. I have occasionally thought about figuring out the exact moon-rise time for instance and then trying to place myself in some location where it is perfect, but then....I'm sort of a spontaneous type also and just don't have the patience...

I was in Venice a few years back and your picture certainly captures the romance of the more hidden areas.

Thanks...I need to go back some day for longer than 3 days and really explore the city...we only touched probably 25% of it.

As it has been said: "Time and Tide wait for no Man."
And apparently, Man's creations are no exceptions to this rule.
I wouldn't mind visiting Venice, if only to ogle it like a real tourist.
