Description In modern times, infantry are equipped with man-portable anti-tank weapons capable of dealing with any armour at a respectable range. However, in the Second World War anti-tank guns were bulky and scarce and hand-held weapons were very much in their infancy. Nevertheless, these primitive short range weapons rapidly began to evolve into a genuine defence against armoured threats.

Being mostly comprised of rather close range weapons, anti-tank teams or "Tank hunters" would be involved in a deeply personal component of battle. If not for the the application and determination of their users, the Anti-tank weapons of World War Two would have likely been of little use or effect. No matter the methods applied, be that suicidal bravery and an accurate throwing arm or well laden ambush tactics, the fact remains that these men, regardless of nation or ideology whom where sent forth against the odds to destroy enemy armour and who fell in the process were in the purest essence truly brave men.
