Inspired by my mum's curses against politics.

Alright, so we didn't precisely elect Ceausescu.

However, anybody who doesn't notice a pattern in our presidents has to be blind.

Here's the list of all of Romania's presidents so far:

Ceausescu 1974-1989 (killed in the Revolution in December 1989)
Iliescu 1990-1996
Constantinescu 1996-2000
Iliescu 2000-2004
Basescu 2004-present (he got re-elected in 2009)

It might not seem like a lot of them, but do the maths: 36 years of 'escu'. It's like an unbreakable pattern, like black magic. Hogwarts changes Defence Against the Dark Arts professors every year, Romania elects an 'escu' as president on any possible occasion.

Why, for the love of God? They're not necessarily better than the alternatives.

Our current political situation is astonishingly dire due to Basescu's leadership. Frankly, the economy's falling, everybody's pissed, teachers barely have what to live on, doctors are leaving the country, everybody's protesting and yet that individual remains president.

Although they keep discussing bringing both him and the government down as a desperate measure. If they do - please, please, all you decent people out there who want to want to candidate, please change your name. Add an 'escu'. Let the magic work, because sense won't.
