Of all the people's names you could have drawn from the bag, it had to be the commander of the entire scouting legion. In fact...you glanced around, unable to find the blonde in your first pass.

"Is he even here?" You mused quietly, brow furrowing in concern.

"Who?"

You looked up at Hangi, a shy smile on your lips. "Umm...the commander?"

Hangi barked a laugh. "Erwin, no use in hiding!" she called out to the other side of the room. A mumble rippled through the crowd.

You shrunk back when Erwin gently pushed his way through the small mob of people. His eyes were cast downward, covered by blonde eyelashes. Once he was free of the crowd he glances up, catching your eyes. A small smile slipped onto his lips, and suddenly you felt your face warm.

"C'mon, cadet, up and at 'em" Hangi chuckled, pushing you in the direction of the commander. You stumbled but quickly righted yourself with the aid of gentle but firm hands. You cast Erwin a grateful look for a half second before looking away again shyly.

The blonde rested a gentle hand on your shoulder, guiding you away from the group and towards the small closet. You swallowed thickly, your nervousness palpable.

As soon as you were in the closet you pressed yourself against the opposite wall. Darkness engulfed the small space as Erwin gently closed the creaking door. You noticed as soon as all light escaped the closet how particularly large the commander was. You could feel his body pressed into yours because of the tight space. Yet he was quiet, even his breathing scarcely audible.

You cleared your throat after a few moments of tortuous silence. You could feel Erwin shift to try and get a glimpse of you in the darkness.

"I...er-um...permission to speak freely, sir?"

Erwin mumbled a "Granted." quietly.

"I...wouldn't expect you to...participate in these kind of games sir." You laughed nervously.

You didn't see the smirk on his face in the darkness. "Oh, why is that?"

You gulped, the noise loud in the quiet space of the closet. "It's just...you're so...serious..." you mumbled, words hard to hear.

"Not when there are beautiful women around." The words were smoothly spoken, and you couldn't help but stiffen as they were said.

You smiled nervously. "Oh yeah?" You asked jokingly. "And who would you be referring to, commander?"

Erwin shifted, the movement causing you to move as well. "Isn't it obvious?" His words were almost a chuckle as you suddenly found yourself pressed against the wall, hands held to your chest. "You."

You nearly choked. "Surely you aren't serious, commander?" You shivered as the blonde lowered his mouth to your ear.

"Why shouldn't I be, (Name)?" the way he spoke your name sent a pleasant shiver up your spine.

You directed your gaze downward. "It's just...I thought perhaps you'd be interested in someone...more interesting. Like Squad Leader Hanji or maybe Nanaba.

fingers traced your jawline, barely skimming your skin before tilting you chin up. "(Name), you are plenty interesting." And before you could protest further, his lips were gliding over yours, barely touching in an open mouthed kiss.

"Commander..." You whispered.

"Erwin." he replied softly.

Your eyes were half lidded, lips slightly parted. "Erwin..." You murmured softly.

"Shh." He quietly hushed you, hands slipping from you shoulders to your back, pressing you forward into a gentle embrace. You were shocked at first, but soon relaxed under his hands and leaned into his broad chest.

"You are lovely, (Name)." Erwin spoke in a low whisper. "Intelligent and kind and magical."

You leaned backwards a bit, looking up at his taller form. "Really?" You whispered.

"Of course." He replied. "I would never lie to you (Name)."

You blinked slowly, feeling your face warm. "Why is that?"

Erwin stiffened for a moment and then relaxed. "Why? Because (Name), I -" he stopped short, and gently pried himself from you before leaning against the opposite wall.

You were confused at first, your thoughts then scattering as the door was opened. Light flooded the closet, and you had to squint as your eyes adjusted.

"Aw, c'mon you guys, nothing?" Hanji asked with disappointment obvious in her voice. "Not even a sweet embrace?"

You shot Hanji an apologetic smile, and moved to exit the closet when a hand on you arm stopped you.

"My room, after this is all over." A voice whispered in your ear before vanishing just as quickly.

You couldn't contain the happy smile on your face for the remainder of the evening.
