Description This can originally be found on my old DA account. But I wanted to repost this here because this is THE ONLY photo I have of my first cat. And the story attached to him is unbelievable, but I never really thought about it because it was something that happened when I was young and wasn't old enough to appreciate.

This is Tiger. He was our family cat and lived to be 13 years old. He loved everyone, but he was especially attached to my little brother. My little brother has severe autism and can't do a lot of things for himself. When my brother was young he didn't learn to walk, he learned to RUN. And he had no concept of what was dangerous. Our house was near a semi busy road, my brother saw something in the road from our backyard, and ran for it. I remember my mom yelling for my brother to stop and when I looked over there was a car coming at the perfect speed to whack my brother. Tiger was near my feet at the time and I also yelled for my brother to stop. It must have been the panic in my voice, because Tiger dashed after my brother and jumped on him, causing him to fall down right before he got to the road. The guy in the car never would have stopped in time.

This didn't happen just once. It happened TWICE. The second time on command from my mother. Same scenario.

A couple years later the next door neighbor who was an absolute monster (Ever hear of razor blades in apples/unwrapped candy during halloween? Yeah. That wasn't a myth in my neighborhood.) trapped our cat and drove him to the other end of the state and dumped him off, specifically because he didn't like that Tiger killed birds. We honestly thought he was lost for good. Two years later, on my birthday, a woman calls and leaves a message telling us that she's found "tigger" (obviously couldnt get a good look at the collar.) and amazingly he came home to us where he lived the rest of his days.

Unfortunately during that time as a feral he contracted feline leukemia, which eventually took him. He will always hold a special place in my heart though. Despite how young I was at the time, the brightest memories I have of him where when he was protecting my little brother.

I never thought a painted dog would have a love for cats. I lost the best cat I will ever have almost a year ago. My condolences. I would personally castrate my neighbor if I knew they had abducted my cat. If you've ever seen Hard Candy, you know exactly what I have in mind.

Also your parents bought the pet cemetery house? Sorry had to ask since kids+cat+weirdo next door+ busy road sounds way Stephen King.

Ok series though, My gosh!! I've heard stories like these but never from the person it happen to. That cat sounds like an amazing fellow. Animals make the best friends with ppl with Autistisim. Really touching story Bonnie thanks for sharing ❤️

Aw. It's weird what will trigger memories sometimes. I've not had to lose anyone yet but I imagine losing such a close friend never leaves you. People and animals sort of ghost each other I guess.

XD well better a Stephen King live than an HP Lovecraft or Poe life at least you've got a good chance at a happy ending depending on which story.

Yeah for real! Though with Stephen King I'd say I still only have a 50/50 shot! At best I'll be mentally scarred for the rest of my life xD

I was going to say 50/50 in the comment but I've only read a small portion of King's books, so I didn't want to sound dumb.
I've watched all the films though (even the bad ones).

Yeah but King's character's are rarely spunky artist out to rule the world though. I think you'll make it out fairly well. At least until the end when you'll die of very very very old age or become immortal and watch the world be smashed to smitters .
