Description:
The AREX-05 Dodo is the first Raptor model designed and produced by FerTek Robotics. Although Raptors were originally used for hunting large animals since ancient history, this model is desinged for utility work. FerTek wanted to capitalize on the popularity of Raptor Racing so they developed the Dodo-Class for the Royal Alliance Military. However, it was rejected in favor of traditional battle tanks but was adapted as a logistical support unit in limited numbers. FerTek repurposed the Dodo to be sold to civilians as a utility work Raptor and can be used to assist in constructing structures, mining, clearing debris, and cargo loading. Due to its modular nature, the Dodo can easily be customized to meet the owner’s preferences and can be modified for various applications.

The Dodo has a box-like utilitarian design, leading some to call it a “walking box.” It has an anthropomorphic-like bird head that serves as the cameras that feed into the view screens of the cockpit. Below the cockpit is a compartment in which stores its Avion Reactor used for powering the Raptor, which allows it to last for a day before overheating. It's Hydraulic Work Arms can hold and manipulate a variety of objects such as large cargo boxes, salvage, or ordinance. A pair of Grapple Cables can be fired out to magnetically attach to any metal, and can be used to reach high places. The Dodo is known to be the easiest Raptor to pilot when compared with later Raptor models and it's simple design also makes easy for routine maintenance.

Dodo's can utilize tools specific for a variety of roles, such as its Raptor Multi-Work Tool (AKA the Cutter Rifle) used for cutting metal in salvage work or mining rocks. The Cutter Rifle can also be used for combat, potentially making the Dodo an impromptu “walking tank”. Using Raptors for combat is a common practice as it is illegal for civilians, mercenaries, and corporations to own military vehicles like tanks. Thus, weaponizing Raptors is a way for Ferrerians to get around said regulations for the sake of self-defense.

Because of its silly sounding name, the Dodo is given various nicknames. Many in Ferreria call it the "Canary" because of its stock color scheme. The Raptor Riders of the Avalon Rangers call their Dodos the "D-Raptor."

Notes:
-The role of this mech is inspired by the power loader from Aliens; a mecha used for non-combat use but adapted for combat anyway.

-The Cutter Rifle is inspired by the Plasma Cutter from the Dead Space games. It can also be used like a lightsaber, much like how in Zeta Gundam, it uses its large rifle as a beam saber.

-Its ability to swap out a Hi-Mobility Pack to Cargo Containers (and vice versa) is inspired by the Striker Packs from Gundam SEED, where the main mecha swaps out backpacks.
