Description This is Ikiteh. She is cousins with Ikiyou. [link]
The Tree God has a name but it is unpronounceable. It sounds like sticks clicking together combined with wind blowing through leaves.

The Sylphs get their assignments from the Tree God. It's roots run deep into the woods, allowing it to see future probabilities. It looks for beings that may cause harm to the forest and suggests they be neutralized. It's always up to the sylph to take the job or not.

The poison in the sylph's tail doesn't actually cause death but begins a process called "Lignification", where by the victim's cells are actually turned into wood!(This fate may be worse than death! You can see one such unfortunate creature melted into the rocks in the foreground of the image.)

It is not clear if the victims retain any consciousness after the process but, it is not uncommon to see an eyeball in the side of a strange looking tree follow you as you walk past it!

Only a little bit. Can't you change this with by playing around with the settings of brightness and contrast?

Gosh, LOOK at that detail! I love your style. Love it, love it.
And it was very interesting reading the story and context of the drawing! You have some very good ideas going on.

Thanks a lot!
The trees were a lot of fun!
Sometimes the detail stuff is really relaxing to me. I get in a cool zone. I think that's why I never put the hours it takes because I loose track.

Thanks for taking the time to read the story too!
I'm glad you found it interesting.
I try to keep them short because I don't want to bore people, but all this stuff comes to me while I draw and I always want to share it.

You know, that is just what it feels like to me too. Sometimes, especially in the evenings, I get in the perfect drawing mood. I lose track of time and place, and I just... draw. Therefore it bothers me when people wants to know how much time I have spent on a drawing. It is difficult for me to calculate, and to me it is not of very big importance. One cannot judge a piece or an artist depending on the time spent. At least that is what I think.

I am so glad you choose to share the stories! But indeed, it is in most cases wise to retell them with relatively few words in descriptions - then people are more likely to read it

Yeah, late night is usually the best time, especially when it all quite out or it's raining or when the wind is blowing and you are all ready to go on an adventure in your imagination.
I can't imagine timing yourself on a drawing.
It seems like it would make it feel like you were trying to hurry up a get it over with. But, I've noticed it's the number one question people ask.
My favorite is when people see you drawing and they say "Are you drawing that?"
It makes me want to look around and say "Yeah, I think so."

Yeah, I have to admit I'm a heavily visual person. When I see a mini novel in someones artist statement I usually skip it.

Thanks! Yeah, I think it boarders on obsession, but it's just so satisfying to try to get it as clean and tight as I can!

as i told you before, i love this. i think you truly did create a believable world, one that people could dive into if they wanted. there's enough history and enough land and creatures for it.
your line art is so clean. don't forget to send me some so i can color it lol

i like the extra detail you add to the plants. and the tree god! it's seriously insane that he works as a medium to tell them what to kill. so crazy. i wonder what would happen if they found out he was corrupt....o.o

Cool! I want to make the world as real as possible!
I keep thinking it would be cool if we could get 3 or 4 people to roll play in it and you and could kinda co DM. You seem to get the world and you come up with unexpected ideas for it! It might make the world seem more alive with two people making up what happens.

As I came up with the Tree God I realized I might have been inspired by one of your stories.( the one where the kids had to go to a monster to get their assignments.)

Somehow I think the sylphs would know if the Tree God ever got corrupted and wouldn't follow him anymore.
