Description (yeah I know the icon's terrible, but just go with it.) Oh my dear sweet, Nora, how I miss you so. The Christmases we spent together. Your smile would warm my heart, but now it's as cold as ice. Oh my sweet, Nora, my darling wife, the day you were taken from me will haunt me forever.[link] Now try reading that with this music playing.

Let me give you a little history with Mr. Freeze. Originally appearing in Batman #121 by the name of Mr. Zero (yeah no zero degrees and what not) Yeah basically he was a lame bald, ice cube head wearing, light green and magenta, with a tea kettle as a freeze gun[link] this was two years after the Flash villain Captain Cold appeared in Showcase #8 and still was better than Freeze or this case Mr. Zero. It wasn't until the 1966 Batman TV show with Adam West, that the character was renamed Mr. Freeze and got the familiar blue skin and freeze gun. While it was a major change, he was still making freeze puns and being nothing a but a gimmick. It wasn't until 1992 when the Batman: Animated Series came out with the episode Heart of Ice when Freeze started gaining the respect he deserve. Originally a scientist named Victor Fries who tried to cure his wife, Nora, who had a fatal disease, but when a corrupt businessman stops him he pushes him into the chemicals turning him into the villain we all know today, and can only survive in below zero temperatures. Freeze was the face of sympathetic villains, making us see why he does these things. Unfortunately when Batman and Robin came out, Freeze's reputation was ruined again...One name Arnold Schwarzenegger . So yeah Freeze even to this day is still regarded as the ice punned goofy villain that appeared in Batman and Robin. However I'm starting to see a redemption in his appearance in Arkham City. So let's hope he get's another one. One more thing I'm pretty pissed at is that in the new DC 52 Nora was never Freeze's wife, but someone he never met working in his department...WTF!! I mean come on! Being his wife was his motivation, we sympathized with him because he wanted to see his wife again, not be this creepy stalker dude. I mean come DC why do you mess with your characters! -__-

Mr. Freeze in Batman & Robin was a combination of both interpretations.  I'm guessing he makes those lame ice puns to hide the anguish for his wife.

I remember him. I always thought it was so sad how his wife was sick. It brought a new level to why he was doing what he did.

Yeah, the Batman and Robin movie did not do him justice. The animated series was so much better!!!!!!

Nice picture. And I really enjoyed reading your description. I know already lots of stuff about Mister Freeze as I am a huge Batman geek - but didn't know exactly everything in detail you explained here.
Also interesting to note that I've myself been drawing and uploading my own depiction of Mister Freeze here on DeviantArt yesterday. And coincidentally, he is standing alone in the snow on my picture as well, while snowing: [link]
