Dang this is cool. Your use of color is pretty fantastic, so I would say this experiment was a success! (haha) Plus this piece just has an awesome composition - I really like how you framed the subject. I could totally see this as both a smartphone wallpaper and as a piece hung up in a restaurant or museum, which just shows how versatile and interesting it is!
