I did something like this once. It was a shading exercise though to shade with differn't techniques on one picture... I have it somewhere.. was a tracing of an old man with snakes around his neck.

Well you can always blend mix media. Mine was worth a grade so it had to be kinda rushed.

Well part of shading was the stripple method. Takes forever taking a pen and tapping it up and down.

My teacher would give you an F if you smudged Hands down F. She wanted you to learn the hand techniques without resorting to smudges.

well it was one of the types of stuff and smudge is one of them and she only let us do one project on it because she didn't like it

Well lots of people don't like smudging. It's considered unarticulate and so on. The big wigs. I did have an art teacher in middle school he was all about the smudge but his art class really sucked anyhow.
