This month's pick-your-poison poll's theme was "draw that song-- part 2". Last year, I did a poll with the same theme, and I thought it would be fun to bring it back a year later, this time with a few different songs, and a few favorites from the last poll that didn't get voted in.
Two songs ended up tying-- Papillons by Malmen and Xyce, and HEART ON WAVE (Let's Kickstart Joey Season 3 Remix) by SYNCHRONICITY ft. Slime Girls. both of these are super upbeat electronic songs that I adore, so I made a rough sketch for both... but I kind of fell in love with the base sketch for Papillons. I'm just a sucker for 80s anime aesthetics. I know "papillon" is italian for "butterfly", and I had full intentions of adding some space butterflies to tis, but they really didn't gel with the composition.

Coincidentally, one of the last draw that song pieces also featured this OC, Kanin... and, uh, it's not good. I was trying to blend my own style with the ninties-eighties-shojou-sailor-moon-animu look, and it doesn't look very great. I was also only just getting into cel-shading, so it's a bit of a mess. It's still in my gallery, but I'm not going to link it here.

Sidenote, the final version of this image is huge. It's the first thing I've ever made that has made dA say "woah mate, that's too big for us". That has never happened to me before.
First time trying the new version of Paint tool Sai as well! It can handle much larger images, which is great news for me, as I typically work on large canvases. Moving over my brushes was an absolute pain, and apparently you have to specifically tell the program that you want to keep the new brushes you make, rather than SAI just doing that itself, so I have to do it all over again. I'm not mad, I swear. : )))))))

I'm selling two versions of this drawing as prints, stickers, phone cases, shirts... a lot of stuff, actually.
