She abused Cecily and her 3 siblings and proceeded to manipulate the lord for her own selfish desires. The woman collected higher taxes, put up new policies, celebrated the death of a witch almost every week and never cared about the fief getting poorer and poorer. As opposed to the peaceful and friendly relationship the Aldington's had before the death of her real mother, the family now was hated by it's people and the tension between both parties was even worse. Due to fear of harsh punishments, Cecily never opposed her stepmother and always averted her eyes to the atrocities the woman commited. At her coming-of-age party, the people had enough and took it upon themselves to eradicate her family from the face of earth. Everyone in her family have been killed in a revolt, but luckily, Cecily has survived by fleeing into the nearby woods. The girl then got found and rescued by an old tailor couple, who adopted her shortly after and taught her the skills of their trade. After dying of old age, Cecily decided to move to a place with wealthier patrons. Due to rumours, she decided to look for the sanctuary to offer the witches her skills as a tailor, so she could finally move on from the past that haunts her.

Growing up in a very busy trading fief as the fief lord's third daughter, Cecily was raised in a loving household. Her father, who has risen to his position after marrying the former fief lord's widow, is a giving man. Most of the income of the fief went back into investing into it's people and it's flourishing trading port. Due to this, her family lived very frugally. It didn't bother them that much however, because the Aldington family was very loved because of their abolishment of high taxes and slavery, and thus always received help from their people whenever they needed it. Living as a "normal" family was the wish of her mother anyway. She detested the unfair treatment many refugees were given before they moved into her fief.

As Cecily grew older, her mother grew sicker and sicker. She somehow had this illness for years now, but it supposedly worsened after giving birth to Cecily's youngest sister. Her mother died soon after Cecily turned 6. Her father, now left alone with 4 young children on his own, didn't know what to do anymore after his wife's death than to marry again. After several months of paperwork, a woman of higher status married the grief-stricken father. The woman was immediately tasked to take care of the 4 children and to help the lord in various ways with the fief.

What followed, was something Cecily didn't notice until she was of age. Her stepmother, who bullied the her and her siblings on a daily basis, had supposedly been "helping" the fief lord with his finances. One day, luxury goods arrived at their house under her stepmother's name. The next day, jewelry. Until years after, the whole house got remodeled into a large mansion. Her father grew distant to his children over time as well and the fief's people weren't as close to the Aldington's as they were before. Supposed witches were also burned once every week, and celebrated just like a festival of some sort. This worried Cecily, but she kept quiet. She feared her stepmother enough for her to not oppose the strict woman's orders.

At her coming-of-age-party, she finally realized what has happened to the once bountiful fief and her happy family. On this day, a mob of mercenaries had forcefully invited themselves into their mansion, slaughtering everyone who was present, in the most brutal ways. Accusations of unfair treatment, slavery and high taxes were their reason for their pent up aggression. One man after the other got slashed down, sparing only the children and women present. Cecily blames her own ignorance for her family's death and unfortune. She fled into the nearby woods after her family was no more.

After days of wandering, she was rescued by a friendly old tailor couple who invited her into their home for work. Not taking any second chances, she gladly accepted the offer and worked herself down to the bone. Years passed and Cecily grew up into a wonderful young lady who took care of her adoptive parents, until the day they finally passed of old age. She inherited her parents' shop, as they had no children between them, and sold it for the sake of moving to a city with wealthier patrons. Rumours has it, that witches pay a fortune, if the work was exceptional. And as the young woman was quite confident in her skills as a tailor, she followed a hint to a place where many of them would be gathered. The santuary.

Up to now, Cecily never believed in all these evil claims about witches many spread around the fief. It always didn't make sense to her, how beings of wonder could be hated more than worshipped. If the two parties would've lived together, put up some strict laws and followed them...these witch hunt wouldn't have been neccessary in any way. Cecily always felt terrible after her stepmother executed many under her tyranny-like reign. Maybe because of this, she felt like she should make it up to those, who are left. It would definitely ease her mind and help her to cope with the fact that she always looked away when the executions happened. Therefore she was very curious about the existance of a place where witches and a minority of humans, co-exist. A peaceful sanctuary of some sort.
