Description My OCs Natalie Gardner and the deer woman Dakota Proudhoof. The scene here is set in 2004, and it's right after Natalie and her family come home from her father's funeral. Natalie at the time was 9 years old. Dakota is about the same age, but she matured and reached adolescence more quickly than humans do, not uncommon for certain nonhuman peoples, and some even have longer lifespans or are immortal. Natalie has always loved nature and animals. Very often throughout her life she has enjoyed spending time wandering about  forests and wilderness. Some nonhuman friends of hers like Dakota make their homes in forests and other places where nature thrives. Dakota lost her parents a few years ago and has since then lived quite close to the Gardner household. Natalie's family has always been very kind to her. Like Natalie, she was as devastated about the death of Nat's father Richard. And here they sit comforting each other over his loss. I admit, the posing is a bit borrowed from a print based on Pan's Labyrinth, a classic film which I myself had been re-watching just last night. I think in a lot of way's, Natalie herself is a lot like the young girl Ofilia from that film. She has that same innocence and purity to her, despite the flaws of character she carries along with them....I guess Guillermo del Toro is much more of an influence on me than I thought...and I mean that in a good way because I absolutely love his work.
