Description Let me just explain to you that i am a diehard The Outsiders fan. I read the book in sixth grade and it has been my favorite book ever since. Even though i'm already 20 years old and i should have deeper taste in literature than that... supposedly... anyway, it's ALWAYS BOTHERED me that in the movie, Dallas was played by Matt Dillon. As much as i LOVE Matt Dillon (i swear, i really do... he's on my "Hot Men who are way to old for me but i'd like to hit anyway" list) he is NOT Dallas Winston. And ah... yeah, i have to complain about it at least once a year... heh heh... so i finally decided to do something about it.

The Outsiders fanart is also something i try to keep away from too, but i was starting to lose my grip on how i saw the characters and becoming more and more influenced by the way they're portrayed in the film, so i remedied that... and this was the result. I'm actually quite pleased with it... This is what the book had to say about Dallas Winston:

"He had an elfish face, with high cheekbones and a pointed chin, small, sharp animal teeth, and ears like a lynx. His hair was almost white it was so blond, and he didn't like haircuts, or hair oil either, so it fell over his forehead in whisps and kicked out in the back in tufts and curled behind his ears and along the na[e of his neck. His eyes were blue, blazing ice, cold with a hatred of the whole world..."

Does that sound anything like Matt Dillon to you? No? Yeah, me neither...

I might try to color this pic EVENTUALLY but right now i'm quite pleased with the sketch and am not really planning to put it into scraps anytime soon so deal.

OMG! I ttly agree with that! It bothered me and my friend that he was absolutely nothing like he was in the book! Me and her swore we'd remake the film to fit the book's description of dallas, and the rest of them! Plus, there were so many things in that movie that defied the laws of physics, it wasn't even funny. ^^ I read it in seventh grade.

Oh, wow. Great portrayal of Dallas. He was always my favourite character. We were studying The Outsiders in English, and we're about to watch the movie, so I'm really interested to see the differences.
Great work.

Oh, stupid STUPID idiots who cast Matt Dillon...still a very hot guy. Don't get me wrong. However, NOT Dallas's particular brand of hot. I like this and it's colored brother very much. You don't see veyr much good Outsiders art around here, and I like yours. umbfounded:

Me too! That I agree with you on! I hated the fact that Matt Dillon played Dally! I was all like "What?! He looks NOTHING like Dally!" Let me explain. In my freshman year, we had to read The Outsiders for lit. I was doing a project on The Outsiders for lit and I looked up the movie and found the poster for it. Now, as much as I love Emilio Estevez, on the movie poster I actually thought he was Dally. I mean, dal was sposed to be all mean and 'i'd rather kill you than look at you' kind of guy, and Matt Dillon was smiling and laughing while Emilio was looking all non-Two-Bit-ish. So I thought he was dear Dally...imagine my surpride when i looked up the cast. >_> I mean, after finally seeing the movie, I decided that I do love Emilio as Two-Bit, but they really needed someone else for the ever-important part of Dally. I didn't really have a problem with the rest of the cast...just Dally. Well...c.Thomas Howell could've been a little more into his part as Pony, but eh. One of my brother's annoyances with Matt Dillon (and i love him too, even if he is way too old for my 17 years) was the scene in the hospital when he says "We'll do it for johnny man. We'll do it for Johnny!"...just the way he said it. I dunno, he just wasn't Dally.I have decided that there's two Dally's...the imposter in the movie and the real Dally in the book. ^_^

And now I'll get off my soapbox. Your pic really is awesome! It looks like Dal should look! I congragulate you! And you have the whole shifty eyed thing down! You kik ass!
