Description The Av'sair are a large race of octopodal lizard-like beings from the moon Glatteis. They have 6 large walking limbs, held in a splayed position. They have a locking mechanism similar to a flea, allowing them to hit incredible jumps despite their large size. Their 4 eyes can detect light slightly into the infrared spectrum due to heat pits in the sclera, which they use to detect subtle emotional and sex-based color changes.

Being boron-nitrogen based, they don’t use water as a solute, instead using ammonia. The boron in their bodies means life from their planet burns in a greenish hue. They are also very vulnerable to water, as it reacts with the ammonia in their bodies to form strong acids.

Their planet was incredibly cold, with "room temperature" being a cool -89 f, and an atmospheric pressure of over 18 times standard. The planet was best described as a rocky ice giant moon, as it orbited a brown dwarf. Due to this, space travel is much more expensive resource-wise for them.

Instead, for most of their early space flight, they would send drones and rovers out into space. This practice continued even as they sent their first directly piloted vehicles out into space, with them sending drones out to survey landing sites before colonization

Their first contact was done via artificial intelligence, meeting up with the voraq civilization just before the cusp of its height. Relations were started and the av'sair joined the rapidly growing star empire.

Their drones and artificial intelligences were used extensively in espionage and recon for the empire, often being designed to emulate the local species to remain hidden.

During the splitting of the empire, the av'sair home world was ravaged when a preemptive strike on a space elevator research facility caused the whole thing to fall onto the planet’s surface. Imperial forces were dispatched, and the battle was extended. When the battle raged on for far longer and harder than anticipated, the planet was written off as unsalvageable and was abandoned.

The remaining av'sair in the system packed up what was left and fled on generational ships in an attempt to get as far away from the region as possible. Any av'sair that remained after the split stayed on numerous colonies throughout the new faction’s spaces, no longer having a true homeworld of their own. Far out in the black however, the original population remains, growing stronger as it observes and waits...
