I FORGOT HALF THE DESCRIPTION
Mirds are large mammal like aliens from a planet of the same name. Males have two very large and armored arms. These arms do not have good manipulator muscles for their fingers so they can only do basic tasks such as lifting with them. The males also have two much smaller arms use for finer manipulation. these arms are much weaker and have most of the finger muscles in the arm itself instead using tendons. Females however have 4 large and armored arms. they are also much more armored than the male who has only subdermal plates, while the female has both external and subdermal plating. Males are also considerably brighter and more colorful than females.
The planet Mird is a typical life-giving planet with many different environments. The planet doesn't have any axal tilt leading to no seasons. the Mird species hail from large, forested plains covered in tall spire trees. due to the difference in arm types, males would do the bulk of jobs that would require sharper hand movements such as clothing making or food gathering, while the females would do hunting and defense. As the civilization grew more advanced however, advances in prosthetics allowed females to gain better manipulator abilities.
Interestingly though, is their method of courtship. Traditionally, a male who wishes to court a female must first fight his way through her extended family, starting with her siblings and ending with her mother. How well he does determine his worthiness to wed. The actual wedding ceremony is done over a scripted recreation of each fight in an elaborate dance. The male and female are introduced in a similar method to a WWE fighter from earth, with an announcer reveling each "character" as they step into the middle of the "ring", a large stone or metal slab in the center of the room.Β
The fight dance is rehearsed many times before hand to prevent a death right before the couple is to be wed, which would bring great dishonor on the brideβs family. The dance fight usually cumulates in an all-out brawl between both families and guests. Thus, signifying the end of any fighting between the houses, so they might as well get it out now. Killing another at this part is still considered a dishonor, so said fights usually end quickly with much eating and drinking. Everything is done to music similar to Irish dance music.
