Just a little over 4 hours of animation work done for this one.Here's the full recorded livestream of my animation session for those who are curious. It should be done processing within the hour of publishing this.

The lips were synced to when Applejack actually said "Say what?" in S5E1 The Cutie Map Part 1 at 24 fps.

Just a question; how do you make cartoon eyes like that?

I won't go in too much detail, but essentially I'm just using perfect spheres for the eyes (which also have several texture layers that can be animated independently), but they are flattened to fit in the face of the model using lattices. Lattices allow the sphere to still rotate while still being properly flattened in the appropriate axis.. if you get what I mean.

The eyes are just UV Sphere being flattened by lattices. The iris, pupil, and eye shines have their own separate animate-able texture layer.

Whoa, sounds pretty cool. Do you think you could tell me how you made them, or do a quick video? I've been trying to make my own non-circular eye rigs for a while now without much success. Feel free to decline though, I'd understand.
I can do everything else besides UV mostly, but the eyes are the one thing I have the most trouble with haha

The only resource I used when making this model was screenshots from the show itself, as well as just stuff I know from experience and from intuition.

I was referring how you learned to do the eyes. Doesn't matter. I've got a subscription with cgcookie.com now. They teach blender and other things extremely well as far as I've seen and I've found an eye tutorial about making a super proper eye rig and it is looking really good so far. There are tons of things they teach and I recommend it to anyone out there who wants to learn more blender stuff.
