We all LOVE candy apples right? i know i do and have made many over the years. However one of the biggest problems has always been the shells of the candy apples are too hard to bite into and they are difficult to store.Here is my twist on the candy apples that i was asked to help out for a local kindergarten class's upcoming Halloween party (the teacher asked me "Can i make them fun?"....I hope you like the result as much as i do!
I've included all three stages on how to make this. I used the cream cheese icing, then add lavender food coloring. Use a pastry brush to apply the icing on apples.You can also use store-bought ready-made icing. Sprinkle your favorite cake sprinkles on the apples. Easy storage and no sticky fingers. The apples are from my garden.

Candy Apples can look amazing. But eating them has always been a big dissapointment because I always forget they are like 10% sugar coated and the rest like 90% apple, and I think it would taste magically sweet from start to end, but after a few bites where all the coating was every other bite is just apple. ;w;

You are entitled to have an opinion - candy apple (fruits) are eaten worldwide, like all foods, no matter what the love/hate opinions will always be plenty...when I make candy apple I prefer the small lady apples, 1/3 in size (An old French apple variety). I tend to agree with you, normally a few bites into the apple, you are totoally over it...if you ever have a chance to eat my candy apple, I know you would enjoy it!

I just always set my expectations way up high when seeing one of these. I mean I like apples. And maybe if I do expect it to taste like candy but mostly like apple maybe id enjoy it more. Maybe somebody should like give you a pack of caramel sauce or something to go with it whenever you buy a candy apple to you can cover up the bitten parts a bit more for more sugary enjoyment. ^_^
Well it would be something I would do if I made candy apples and sell them. Like stick a small pack of syrup on the stick of every candy apple.

maybe a stupid idea but to make the sweet taste last longer couldn't you cut the apple in layers and leave the bottom part ( i think 1 quarter ) uncut.
then put the apple on a stick and layer it with chocolate or something else between the slices ?
you will still have a large amount of apple but you would keep the sweet taste with the layers inside..

Sure...why not, layered candy apples! My feedback is for personal consumption, I see that it is doable, for selling it at a grocery store, unless you are willing to pay a much higher cost of a layered candy apple, I don't see it happening!

Sure...too much sugar consumption will subject oneself with poor health not only in diabetics but also over-weight and etc.

if nothing else, this version is not sicking sweet, often times kids cannot finish their apples due to over-sweetness. this is a great compromise. i am glad you like it
