Yay for shape changing masses of unpleasantness!A watercolor and gouache painting from my notebook. I've got a few of these bottled creatures lying around; they're actually quite a lot of fun the draw and paint. I've been thinking of them as specimens of some alchemist's research materials.
The tag on this one means something along the lines of "Night Fear," and was actually the first bottle I painted. They were originally inspired by the Illustration Friday topics "bottled," but they've taken on a life of their own in my sketchbooks.

what part was done in water color and what part in gouache?

Generally, the hairy textures and white spots on the monsters are gouache. Everything else is watercolor.

this is totally awesome... i too have been kinda stuck on drawing "specimens" sealed away in formaldehyde. (unfortunately i have'nt posted any so far.) but i totally dig the bottled nightmare concept..... kudos!
