Soldier Guarding Civilians
September 10th, 1965-Qui Nhon, South Vietnam: Vietnamese women, children and elders huddle together, as U.S. Marine Corporal Dave Taylor of State College, Pennsylvania holds a rifle on them. The leathernecks rounded up the villagers during a "sweep" maneuver north of Qui Nhon. The round-up was conducted when the troops discovered most of the village's male population had fled the area -- an indication that there was a heavy infiltration of Viet Cong, and that many left behind could be armed for sniper attacks.
