Why should Carnosaurs hog all the fany headgear?

Wyatt-Andrews-Art In reply to TheSax66 [2017-04-22 00:46:27 +0000 UTC]

I suppose that's true. This one just looks very Allosaur like in his headgear. That's not bad just thought I might point that out

Can I see this design at other angles or am I being too demanding?

TheSax66 In reply to william023 [2017-04-01 07:36:11 +0000 UTC]

Well there are no other angles on the design to be honest, why'd you want them?

That subtle triangular ridge in front of the eye made me think this was an Allosaurus at first. Nope.

Yeah I've gotten that a couple of times, I guess people are used to a very specific shape for tyrannosaurs, even if keratinous structures (if existing) would alter a T.rex's appearance significantly.

Cool pic, just wish paleontologists would agree on something instead of always changing everything

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheSax66 In reply to UltramanZenith [2017-03-02 05:58:51 +0000 UTC]

Unless we were to find integument in the fossil record, I'm afraid to say it's a free for all. Meaty skin, scaly skin, entirely feathered, partial, mostly, nothing, etc. There is no definitive T. Rex
That said, feathers in some degree are almost a given, so you have that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

UltramanZenith In reply to TheSax66 [2017-03-02 06:02:03 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'll give you that. It's almost as bad as whether or not the Rex was either a scavenger, a hunter, or both.....it's both

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Blomman87 In reply to UltramanZenith [2017-03-14 02:57:27 +0000 UTC]

You know that Jack Horner only said that to upset people right? He have long since changed his mind, but people did really fall for that bait and got upset. It was just a theory, we know for a fact T.rex did both.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Kagansaurus In reply to UltramanZenith [2017-03-02 22:06:50 +0000 UTC]

I think the T. rex scavenger debate didn't really have a reason to exist. They should have just assumed that it both hunted and scavenged like all modern predators.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

UltramanZenith In reply to Kagansaurus [2017-03-02 22:13:34 +0000 UTC]

Exactly! Name one predator that would pass up a free meal like a dead animal...other than humans, I think. Not to mention the other bull-crap theories like the rex's REAL max speed is about fifteen miles per hour instead of 25, and it only lived for about thirty years, and they keep changing how good its' eyesight  and how smart it was

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kagansaurus In reply to UltramanZenith [2017-03-02 22:18:07 +0000 UTC]

Science marches on, it's not like we have a T. rex today and all we have are impressions of bone in the rock. Really it's okay if theories change a lot, it shows paleontology as a dynamic science that is always learning more. But yeah, the scavenger idea isn't an example of a good hypothesis.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

UltramanZenith In reply to Kagansaurus [2017-03-02 22:20:39 +0000 UTC]

It just kinda pisses me off when a new theory or hypothesis is proposed and people act like it's a fact
