Description
Among the first attempts at utilizing reverse engineered Solinoid technology, the UNS Coral Sea was built from a retired Nuclear Aircraft Carrier hull, retrofitted with new systems and a new power-plant. Designed for operations both in space and on the high seas, the Midway Class of UN Fleet Carriers use Gravity Reaction Lifters (a form of Mag-Lev technology that uses planetary magnetic fields to provide lift for the ship) engineered from the remains of the Solinoid crash discovered in the late 80's/early 90's.

Home to 2 squadrons of Variable Geometry Fighters, 1 squadron of UN Special Operations Aircraft, and a full squadron on UN Marine Corps Drones, the Midway class are the largest ships currently in the UN Fleet. The Coral Sea and her sister are armed with a variety of weapons including Heavy Missile Launchers (essentially firing long range cruise missiles), Multi-Warhead Missile launchers, Laser Cannons and numerous Phalanx Automatic Turrets for defense.

Though not as heavily armed as Fleet Battleships like the Royal Oak, the Midways have one distinct advantage in the form of a large Energy Conversion Cannon in the lower bow of the ship. These massive beam cannons are incredibly destructive, but require long periods of recharge between firings... meaning these cannon are only used at the very outset of combat or in situations where there is no other choice...
