Gift for Artistic-Twist ~Now this was a lot of fun designing! Mainly because of her original design is like a warrior's, in a way. So it was challenging, which made it more fun.
Such has trying to find something to replace the fur from her coat. I thought using the kelp/seaweed would work nicely. Not only does it have a nice touch, it would help her give her more camouflage. And from what I can tell from drawings of her she's a fierce warrior. So I thought this design might suit her pretty well...I think...

I'm actually really really surprised. I'm actually not a big fan of mermaids. As a kid, I was more into Dinosaurs and Dragons, I could never get into mermaids, and though I'm more into other mythical creatures now, mermaids still aren't at the top of my favorites list. But this turned out extremely well and to say I adore it would be an understatement. I love the shading and the effort you put into it, it's really well done for a traditional picture. XD I also really love the colors you used and how you integrated her clothes into the tail. The seaweed wraps and shark tooth belt are a nice touch toooo<33 This looks really really amazing Mae! Heh, I understand. I would always read the little mermaid books and watch the movie when I was younger. I live by the ocean and I love to swim so I guess I just liked the thought of being one. But being that I can't, drawing them is the next best thing! XD
But, I'm really happy that you like it so much~
It was really fun designing her this form because with her original design it was a bit of a challenge. But that was what made it fun!
Gave me a chance to get out of my comfort zone and experiment a bit. ^u^
