Snow created the golems just complicated enough to follow two commands. 1. Attack anything that moves or makes noise (that isn't an ally). 2. When the opponents are too strong or too many, run and fetch reinforcements. Larger golems like this one here (I call him Slothy) are even duller than the normal ones, and it takes a while for the weak magic to make its body react.
