Independent and aloneI never asked for more.
I thought that I had run my course,
That Love's last light had shone.
I stood ashamed of how I'd been
Captured by Love's strong arm.
I thought my lesson was well learnt,
But it had just begun.
Love once more came into my door;
It bounded in with joy.
I could but stare and whisper soft,
"I never asked for more."
Once more I melted at a voice;
I trembled at a touch.
I stood exposed and weakened,
Having dared to speak and trust.
Love gently opened up my heart,
Then took me by the hand
And led me to a brown-eyed man,
Who said we'll never part.
The veil was lifted from my eyes;
I saw the truth arise.
The Weakness I had once despised
Was merely Strength disguised.
