Prompt: The Ominous Mark

Maeve wishes to investigate this mark that has caused some unease throughout Tephe. However, Maeve isn't comfortable going alone with rumors of rogues and the recent influx of attacks. So they approached Bernice. A newer member of the pack, but their size appealed to what Maeve needed. After some brief introductions, they learned that Bernice is a Barbarian which was even better for Maeve's request. Happy to offer her aid, Bernice agreed to join Maeve's excursion to investigate the ominous marking.

Upon approach, Maeve sensed a dark aura about the symbol scored into the tree trunk. They spent only a few moments investigating before Maeve agreed that little was left to do. Returning and thanking Bernice for her time, Maeve decided consulting the deities was best. As a Vicar, Maeve found a sense of responsibility in understanding the origin and meaning behind the symbol.
