In the Texas Civil War, Most battles were fought and won with Calvary. Do to Texas' large land mass A quick Mobile force was needed. But sometimes the good old Foot soldier is all you need.
The 1st Texas Republic Infantry Regiment (Founded in 1851) were one of the first professionally trained standard troops for the Republic. Officers from Europe (Mainly from German States) and America trained and created the back bone of the Republic Infantry. Falling the CSA Invasion of 1861 into Eastern Texas and Nearly 40% of the Military defecting to the CSA. The some of the 1st Infantry men (Made of Eastern Texans) had some common ground with the Southerners but they remained loyal to the Republic. Sadly their head base in Houston was taking on July 21st after the City fell to CSA Forces. Following the Defensed stand in late '61 to early '62, then a counter-attack in late '62. The 1st Texas Infantry was on it way to free Houston. Along the way they discover the mistreat of Pro-Republic Citizens. From Hanging to looting to Killings. This Angry the men of the 1st Infantry, they felt their Southerner Brothers had betrayal them. On August 27th 1863, The 1st Infantry launched an attack on CSA forces right flank near the city of Houston, there they fought and broken the lines. Their in the Battle, the 1st gained their names "The bloody 1st" "Star hats" "The Longhorns". Of the 1,003 only 432 remain non-casualties.
