Starspace Scavengers are only featured in the Protected's champaign.

These little space goobers are found among scavengers, like (and unlike) an elite scavenger, they give off a light corresponding to the color of their body. cosmic Scavengers are lankier in body and neck, and can have many different horn variants regular scavengers do not have.

the Starspace Scavengers that spawn with an orb in their horns (as seen on the last two horn variants), give more valuable items like star spears, singularity bombs, and cosmic rocks. however, they will need more valuable items to trade for them.

all starspace Scavengers have two things in their hands, and when trading its possible to get one.

to get a star spear from a starspace Scavenger you'll need one of these: three pearls/a king vulture mask/a cosmic rock/two electric spears.

when in the process of trading with a starspace Scavenger, you can ask them to follow you to a place for them to sit. (they can sit anywhere in any region-) like your shelter or a good place in the map. that way, you won't have to worry about finding the Starspace scavenger your in the process of trading with.

once the trade is completed they will make a quiet "woosh" sound and will hold their hands out and let you pick what items are in their hands. they will stay for a few more seconds to see if the item is the one you really want (jumping will tell them that you have the item you want, crouching will tell them to turn around to grab the item in their other hand,) then will leave once you make your choice.
