The medicinal arts: Verise has been previously trained in the medicinal arts, and has also developed a couple cures of his own. He can perform magic to heal superficial injuries, like bruises, cuts, or scrapes.
Hiding: Verise is skilled at hiding, and can hide himself in plain view, a skill also developed in his childhood when he was trying to hide from his brothers.
Sharp Sight: He’s always had very good sight, and can see the farthest or smallest details with surprising clarity.
Control over air currents: Verise is able to manipulate air currents to perform small tricks, but this ability isn’t developed that much yet.

Suspicious: Very suspicious of everyone that comes near him, mainly because of his childhood- he was bullied and tricked a lot by his older brothers.
Gentle: He’s very empathetic and gentle whenever he treats his patients.
Held-back: Verise holds himself back, afraid that people will hate him for what he did to his brothers and sister if he tells them.
Shy: Verise is shy and prefers to observe and analyze someone thoroughly before speaking to them
Eager: Verise is very eager to help people, and will immediately respond for a job offer.
Polite(to elders):He’s respectful towards his elders, as they are more intelligent than him and can offer him helpful advice.
Intense/Serious (during work): He tends to take work very seriously, as he is being trusted with somebody’s life.
History: Once upon a time, there were seven brothers. The youngest of these brothers was Verise, always bullied and made fun of by his elder brothers. However, he consoled himself on the fact that his parents wanted another younger sibling, and that they would be made to endure these problems with him and he would have someone to talk to. When his sister was born, he was overjoyed, and volunteered to go fetch the water for her baptism. All of his brothers tagged after him, hoping to get another chance to play a trick on him. When he was about to reach the pond, they tackled him and held him down just for fun. Outraged but helpless, he stood there as they teased him and juggled the pot. He’ll never forget what happened next. Shaking with fury, he threw all of his brothers off, grabbed a handful of grass and dirt, and threw it into the eyes of the eldest brother. There was a rock hidden in the chunk of sod, and it slashed his brother’s eyes, blinding him. Then, the jug slipped out of his hands and fell, breaking into pieces as it landed on the gravel surrounding them. The other brothers grabbed him by his clothes and threw him into the river, along with the remains of the vase. They ran off, laughing as he spluttered and doggy-paddled his way to the shore. Suddenly, his whole body transformed. He was no longer human, with sleek, feathered wings, scaly, twig-like legs, and a hard beak. He was swept away by the current, and fell unconscious.

The next day, he woke up in a small, warm cottage. He had no clue to where he was, but there he was, himself again! He looked at his fingers and legs, and wiggled them with delight. He remembered what had happened the day before, and fell into a stupor. Verise believed that his sister had died without being baptized, and it was all his fault. He didn’t notice the old, withered woman slip in-the healer who had rescued him from the river the day before. She had turned him back into his human form, and bandaged him to the best of her ability. The healer took care of him, for months on end, until, one day, a small girl wandered into the cottage. She was lost, and couldn’t find her way back to her house. She tried to ask the boy for questions, who warded her off, apologising with fear in his eyes and a trembling voice. Verise thought this was his sister, come back from the dead to haunt him. The old healer came in, and reassured him that it was not his sister. Coming to his senses, he realised that mourning for what had been lost was no use, and started to learn the medicinal arts from the old woman, who taught him gladly. He did this to compensate for what he had done to his sister, and to be able to heal other people, just like the old lady did for him. After learning all she had to teach him and gaining a close friend, Duc, he set off on a journey... to find his sister if she was still alive, and to heal his brother.
Familiar: Duc-a white raven, one of his closest acquaintances. He picked her up one day during his training, when she was abandoned on the ground as a chick, and raised her to get herbs on high rock faces for him and to dig roots or bring medicinal plants to him. She’s an albino raven, and tends to like hiding in his cloak or perching on his shoulder. They have a loving relationship, and enjoy each other’s company.
