Copics are certainly tough to master! You should see some of my first attempts! Not exactly masterpieces...
That aside, these were actually good color choices. I don't know much at all about the Pokemon Franchise, but I do recognize the style.
I've run into trouble with purple hues of copics. They're difficult to shade. See, with markers especially, using the complimentary color to shade is ideal. (red shades green, blue shades orange, etc) However, yellow and purple... Yellow, you can shade with purple, but yellow bleeds through the purple and spreads out the pigment. I think, if I recall, I shade with a yellow-brown color.
There is also the possibility of multimedia processing, such as using copics for your base coloring and then shading over that with your colored pencils. You might not get the texture you want, but you might find you like the results!
That all to say, this is a very nice drawing and you did well coming up with a solution to your color problem. It was a very inventive process, I think. I especially like your lineart here. It's very diverse and clean. The shield looks especially nice. Leaving the white outline, while I question leaving it like that, I think it's grown on me. Somehow, it gives the image a sense of motion through color vibration. That all to say, nicely done!

Ah, well learning as you go is the best way to approach it. Because otherwise you'll never learn. If you don't already, keep a spare sheet of blank paper at your work space so you can test shading processes as you go before you apply them to your drawing. You can also determine the color's actual hue. I am way too in the habit of that to the point that I make a mark every time I take the lid off. hehe...... X3 whoops.
What pens are you using to do your lineart? I highly recommend you use micron Sakura Ink pens. You should thoroughly erase the lines until the ink fades a little, then you color, and finally dress the lines back up and enrich them with varying lines. I wish I was cool enough to do tutorials! XD haha

^funny thing is, I actually do that sometimes, but... I still get some variation in hues? It might be that the paper I use to test it is a different material from the one I draw on..
I use microns too! They're so fun to use. Lately though, I've been wanting to get one that has a very thin tip; I've too many thick ones, like 0.5" or something. The smallest I have .05 but I think it went dry.. and I want one even smaller than that. 0_0
Hey I never thought of redrawing my lineart lines.. that's a pretty good idea; surprised I never tried it. xD

That's very true. It certainly takes time to amass a collection
Well guess it's time to get a colour swatch (as well as a colorless blender..). Thanks for the tips
