A giant Vinyl Scratch in Minecraft!Original image: fav.me/d4tl1wo
This was made completely by hand, I only used fly mod and TMI.
Made in Minecraft version 1.7.3 for various reasons.
When I saw the original image, I knew I had to make this one. Why, you ask? I guess I'm just a sucker for red eyes

On the contrary, the plushie I have has her with red eyes.
I think Red Eyes suits Vinyl better, anyway.

This is amazing, as are your other works of this scale, I feel the need to ask, how long does it take you to do these, and do you use world edit commands to place large amounts of blocks at once for filling in colors, or are you forced to place every block by hand as I would, also, about how many chunks on average do you think these builds are?

Usually these take about 15-20 hours in total, and I never use world edit commands, although I wouldn't blame anyone for using them. I never bothered to figure out how to use them but, like you said, they could probably come in handy for filling in large areas.
Later on I did start using one of those fancy auto-clickers to speed up the building process.
I honestly have no idea how many chunks these are. I think they're around 35-40K blocks, but I'm really just guessing at this point.
Once I did time how long it took to walk from the top of Celestia's horn down to her hooves, which took about 2 minutes, so maybe that gives you an idea of the size

How did you get the custom colours? Is there a texture/resource pack you used?

Made my own texture pack, just look for a tutorial on youtube if you don't know how to do it.

Well, this wasent really done in minecraftc:
More like you drew it or pasted the vector on a minecraft screenshot or something..
If this was really done with minecraft blocks the colors wouldnt look exactly the same, you.d still be able to see e blocks combination to create the color, also if this was really made with blocks, the clouds would be floating on top of it aswell
