Description I'm starting to gather ideas up for a Fantasy novel, so here are my musings.

The plot isn't really worked out, so I'll just start with the races. I'm thinking of putting the P.O.V. and plot to be a little odd. Again, not really sure.

Illiae -
Neutral territory, they live in tree houses of the sort, and have human figuring. However, they can grow up to a extremely tall height ( Maybe 6 foot 5 is the average, 5'8 being the lowest and 7'2 being the highest ) and are very lightweight. I'd say the average one weighs about 140. Very light, I am aware, but that conjoins with their speed. However, they take damage much more easily and are much more lightweight to sacrifice for afflicting damage and particular strength. Most of them make a living as arches, hunters, soldiers, cleaners, or protectors. The Illiae live in a environment where there are rare birds. One breed ( which I will name later on ) Can grow up to 20 or 30 feet long, with wing spans of equal size. They can only be taken down with a combination of 3-4 archers with about 6 soldiers, and are hunted for both meat and plumage. Their bones are thin and hollow, and their meat is rich in fat. The females are pale with tints of certain colors on their plumage, were the males are more hunted for their meat and wings.
These birds are killed sparingly, perhaps 5 or 6 times a year.

To the rankings:

Archers - Pretty self explanatory. A bit on the rare side, as the children have to pass eye, coordination, strength, stamina, precision and accuracy tests. Most of the archers are female, and craft their own items. Each year, however, they can get booted if they do not pass a annual series of tests.

Soldiers - Call them what you like, but this is their respective name - rank. They are a mixture of different things, though they are primarily warriors and what not. They are probably the most muscularly built, composed of mainly males. There is a smattering or two of females, but the anatomy of both is slightly different, the males being more dense in their bones.

Snipes - This group is probably the most gifted one. The Illiae live to a ripe age of about 150 or so, 40 being the peak of their youth, 60 - 70 the time where ether features begin to deteriorate. The Snipes receive the wings of the hunted birds, attaching them to devices that allow them to take flight. It takes lots to pass the requirements. They have to have eye qualifications, know how to repair a wing if it snaps, and physique tests. They're nowhere as buff as the Soldiers, but they're more sinewy. They're vicious fighters though, when its absolutely necessary.

Cleaners - Though the Iliae have top warriors and defenses, they still lose an absolutely huge hunk of their children's population due to various causes. The children often fall to their death from wandering too far from the house. Other than that, they will get killed by infection, snakes, or other natural causes. The Cleaner's job is to hunt, repair the houses, and clean up. They also look closely after the children, most of the cleaners being the parent of the child. Each one would guard the child with their life, literally.
