Description Name: Reflectile

Species: Chlamidoid

Home World: Khoros

Powers/abilities: Reflectile's pair of extendable frills behave like a living solar panel, absorbing solar energy that he can use in a variety of methods. The main use is by producing a concentrated beam of ultraviolet radiation, which is powerful to melt through the material of a car in a matter of minutes. Reflectile can also redirect this energy into his hands or feet allowing him to melt certain objects, such as door handles and metal railings, just by touching them.

With their six limbs and claws, Chlamidoids are able to scale vertical surfaces with ease.

Chlamidoids are able to tolerate severe temperatures that would be uncomfortable or even fatal for humans.

Reflectile can use his ten-foot long tail like a whip in order to sweep out the legs of his opponents. The last couple feet are prehensile in nature and can grab hold of objects with the ease of a third hand.

Like snakes and certain lizards, Chlamidoids can smell using their tri-forked tongues to pick up on trace molecules in the air.

Reflectile possess an enhanced bite strength, as he was able to bite through the railing of a catwalk with ease (albeit, accidentally).

Weaknesses: Reflectile's main weakness is that he heavily relies on exposure to the sun in order to use his light-related capabilities. If the skies are too cloudy or if he is inside without access to a skylight, he can't absorb any solar energy.

As useful as their tail is, a Chlamidoid's tail is also one of its biggest weaknesses. If it gets stepped on or held onto by a strong opponent, they won't be able to run away.

Reflectile can be easily overpowered by species with superior strength, such as Tetramands or Appoplexians.

Species with significant armor, such as Tetramands or Arburian Pelarotas, are unaffected by a Chlamidoid's ultraviolet blasts.

Reflectile is vulnerable to electricity, such as that produced by Transylians.

Etymology: Reflectile's name is a portmeanteau of the words 'reflect', which reference his light-based abilites, and 'reptile', which refers to his his lizard-like appearance.

Trivia: The species name comes from the taxnomic family Chlamydosaurus, a genus of lizards which are well known for the large frills around their necks and which stay folded against their back when not in use.

It is unknown what the species' home world, Khoros, could be a reference to, as is traditional in the Ben 10 franchise.

Reflectile speaks with a French-spoken Morroccan accent.

Khoros is a planet whose surface is not dissimilar to that of Mars and is covered in a global desert. This is a result of the slowing of the planet's core, which no longer produces the convection currents necessary to create a geodynamo capable of protecting Khoros' ozone layer from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation. What little water is located on the planet is trapped beneath its surface in an extensive network of subterranean caverns. Occassionally, this water bubbles to the surface and creates oases, which attract life from all over the blistering dunes of the planet.

In addition to the Chlamidoids, Khoros is also the home world of the Tetramand. Unfortunately, the two species rarely get along, and the Tetramand make a habit of bullying and pushing them away from vital resources, such as water. So important are the oases that scarcely dot the global desert, that the Tetramand will readily give their lives in order to defend them from all manner of perceived threat. Unable to compete with the Tetramand's vastly superior strength and battle prowess, the Chlamidoids often have to hope they can locate an oases that the Tetramands have missed or before they get there. If this isn't an option, they might be able to buy their way into a Tetramand-controlled oases if they locate an example of one of the Tetramand's long-lost secrets from their previous civilization; even then, they won't be able to stay for very long, as Tetramands aren't very big on exceptions.

Chlamidoids are nomads and shepherds by nature and spend a large portion of their time watching over their livestock, whom their very livelihood depends upon, and traveling across the scorching sands. In spite of their nomadic nature, Chlamidoids often construct permanent settlements on the backs of Duneskimmers, gigantic, holothurian creatures that are far and away the largest species native to Khoros. Covered in massive, chitinous plates, these massive filter-feeders travel the global deserts, constantly sifting through the sands in search of any edible bits. In return for tolerating their presence and carrying them across the planet, the Chlamidoids look after the Duneskimmer's health, cleaning it and protecting it from parasites and any predators desperate enough to try and hunt them.
