Madellaine is being forced by Jehan to attend the Feast of Fools to be able to run into Quasimodo again (Since he was last years king), since their last meeting didn't go well because she got frightened when she saw his face. In order to account for that, Jehan had her change into a more elegant dress than the blue dress she was in when she went to Notre Dame, as well as a more eye catching color, in order to make her look more attractive.
