Description "You see i'd rather be thrown in a pit full of hungry tyrants than to be thrown in with the kukris, for a tyrant  at least will be quick on ending your life, and the death would be mostly painless, now the kukris, the little bastards will savor each moment of your pain as they slowly slash you to pieces and laugh at your misery."
-Dean Johnson, Bounty hunter and frontiersman to famous Naturalist and writer Lilian P.Sturmvögel upon seeing the remains of a victim of a Jungle Kukri attack.

"Family: Bladeweavers,Legwings,Daggerfeet,Kukris,Bladeharriers and allies (Dromaeosauridae)
Subfamily:Kukris (Kopsinae)
Scientific name: Kopsisaetus newarkensis
Area of occurence: Troughout the eastern rainforests in the nations of Newark and Grand Virginia
Diet: Carnivore
Size: 2m long and 0.5m tall

Kukris are a unique group o creatures only present on Appalachia, unlike other members of the dromaeosauridae, their recurved claws (Which resemble the recurved nife from which they take their name) are far more sharp than they are piercing, evolved as a means to cut rather than to pierce. As a result, Kukris are pretty poor tree climbers but actually fearsome predators able to take creatures many times their own size due to their unique hunting technique, which is something that could have very likely come from a horror flick.

When hunting, the groups gather together in huge agregations of more tha 30 individuals, who, after choosing a target, repeatedly, and in a scary orderderly way, strike the victim  with a powerful blow and run for cover, many times, making deep wounds on even the toughest of hides and waiting as the victim dies a painfull death from all the bloodloss. Its a terrifying way to die, which made kukris into one of the most feared creatures troughout appalachia, and from all the 3 species, the Jungle Kukri is the most feared of all.

Jungle Kukris are common troughout the forests of the east, hardly identified by their reddish tails and loud calls which scarily resemble maniacal laughter and help to give these creatures an even more grim reputation. They've strongly benefitted from Newark's quick urbanisation and were quick to see on human made items (and on humans themselves and their livestock) an easy source of food. Their numbers have grown so much that they've straight out become a plague in many of Newark city's suburban neighborhoods, and many have curfews at night to avoid kukri attacks.

Like the similarly dangerous Bayou slasher, all attempts at control the populations of these animals have been proven unsucessfull, and many other measures to avoid their attacks are being taken around the cities, from fencing to night watching patrols (called kukri watchers), and it seems that these have atleast partially worked, as human attacks by kukris have been steadily decreasing.

In the wild, the kukri's main prey are Quillboars and Bristlebacks (Leptoceratopsidae), but  they are bold enough to take on far larger animals, from juvenile scythebirds to even the smaller forest hornheads (Virginiceratops spp), making them one of the most important top predators of this ecosystem. They normally live in huge aggregations of over  20-30 individuals that mostly breed in the early rainy season, when herbivores are more plentiful, and their nesting grounds can be seen from many miles away due to their nasty habit of decorating them with the rotting remains of their prey like some kind of serial killer's twisted trophy room. If you find that scary, thats exactly their intention, to scare away competing groups and larger predators alike, and signal to everyone in the forest they should not be messed with.

While terrifying in every single aspect, the Kukris are an amazing group of animals that show how evolution takes weird routes sometimes, and how the nature of Appalachia ca be unwelcoming and resistant to human control."

Daggerfeet are, I think, hmm... Velociraptors? Deinonychus?

Nope, think of something closer to Bambiraptor, yet with very long climbing legs.

"A turkey, huh? OK, try to imagine yourself in the Cretaceous period. You enter a clearing that stinks of rot and death and is adorned with the carcasses of many animals, big and small, when you finally see him. He moves like a bird, lightly, bobbing his head. And you keep still because you think that maybe he'll loose interest if you play dead, but no, not  K.newarkensis, You stare at him, and he just stares right back. And that's when the attack comes. Not from the front, but from the side, from the other thirty two Kukris you didn't even know were there. Because the Jungle Kukri is a pack hunter, you see, he uses coordinated attack patterns and he is out in force today. And he stab you with his long, blade like recurved claws, he doesn't bother to bite your jugular like a lion, say... no no. He slashes at you here, or here, making a series of deep, unstitchable wounds that cut right into you circulatory system's most important vases, as you bleed more and more, you start feeling weaker and hearing their laughter, their eerie, psychotic, macabre calls following you, waiting patiently for your imminent death as pain overtakes you poor feeble body and despair fills your heart and soul as their cackle becomes louder, and louder and you just can't take it anymore, you fall to the ground dripping blood like a cracked house pipe drips water and can only watch as these "turkeys" start their feast. The point is, you are alive and writhing in pain when they start to eat you. So you know, try to show a little respect."
