Description How to expect to improve if you don't try?

I did these in the past three days and learned from each one. After the first I realized I needed to add more detail. After the second, I realized that while I added a lot more detail, I lost the "likeness" of the person I intended to draw. Going into the third one, I tried really hard to capture the likeness of the person and also added lots of detail.

My point is, you can't expect to get better if you don't try and learn from what you did. That goes for pretty much everything in life, not just art.

My goals right now are still to improve likeness and the little details that pull a piece of art together. I hope you can look at this and be inspired to keep trying and not give up, no matter how tedious it might be (:

maybe you could try making the eyes a bit smaller next time if you're going for a more realistic style because they look a bit too big and make the anatomy of the face look awkward c:
