Description

The first snowflake had just touched the ground. He'd never been around to see the first beautiful snowfall before, but unfortunately the happiness wouldn't last. This was going to be his first winter alone.

Her belly was empty and crying out for food. She stalked the forest floor for small mammals. The snow had started falling. She quickened her movements. 'It'll be harder to find prey on the snow' she thought.

Just then, Mary spotted a rabbit, the perfect size, shivering as he searched for shelter. She reared up and stood still, waiting for the right moment. She'd only have 1 shot, and she wanted to make absolutely sure.

Charles started to feel defeated. He didn't know how he was going to stay warm. Before he could finish his thought, he felt a blow pin him to the ground. A blur of orange fur filled his vision. Charles simply froze, frightened.
"Gotcha little guy~"

"Just when I was getting hungry too. How's it feel to be prey, hmm? Knowing I'll gulp you down and then you'll be fat on my tummy forever~"
Mary liked to tease her prey before swallowing them whole. It felt good to exert her power over those who would soon pad her body. Mary opened her mouth wide.

"P-please don't eat me, miss!" Charles choked out, weakly. He figured he wouldn't last the winter, but he didn't expect to go out this fast.
"Not like this! Not when I'm all alone…" He struggled as the predator's open mouth got closer and closer, until…

*Nomph~*
Mary closed her jaws around the small creature. She savored his meaty flavor for a few seconds before gulping him down. It satisfied her greatly to finally eat something that wriggled inside her. Though, she couldn't help but feel bad for the poor rabbit.

Charles traveled slowly down the fox's throat, barely slipping through. Eventually, though, he plopped into her stomach. It seemed the perfect size to fit him comfortably inside. Digestive enzymes and acid threatened to melt him into chyme, bubbling slightly. Despite the danger, Charles couldn't help but realize how warm it was inside. A belch reminded him of what he was. Prey. Food. He began to weep.

*Buuuworrp*
Mary laid down with her stomach full of food. She thought about what the rabbit said. 'All alone…' Mary knew what it felt like to be alone. She couldn't imagine what it felt like to be alone as a small prey animal. She put a paw on her tummy.
"You alright in there, little guy?"

Charles was surprised to hear his predator's voice again. She sounded sorry, which confused him. Charles noticed the acid had drained from the digestive chamber. All that remained was slimy saliva which dripped from the top.
"I think so. Why do you ask? You already ate me…"

Mary gently rubbed her belly.
"Maybe I don't need to churn you into fox fat to keep warm… Maybe I can keep you safe for the Winter."
It did feel nice to have the rabbit inside her. Extra warm, too. It'd be nice to have a friend, too…

"You really mean it?" Charles asked, reservedly.
"I guess your stomach was made for me."
He pressed his paw up against the stomach folds.
"I'm a perfect fit…"
He looked around her stomach, watching it churn in circular motions. Ironically, it felt like home.
"I'm Charles, by the way."

"I'm Mary."
She laid down where she stood. The snow kept falling.
"Bet you never thought you'd enjoy being fox food, did ya?"
"Can't say I did." Charles responded, muffled through her belly.
"Maybe you were always meant to end up in a fox's gut."
"You know… I think you're right."

Mary glanced at her full tummy as Charles was just getting comfortable inside.
"I'll protect you for the Winter. After that, who knows? Maybe I'll keep ya~"
She was glad to have someone around, as was he.

They both closed their eyes as the snow covered up the dirt. It was going to be a long winter together.
