Tomorrow, over 70 years ago, one Reverend W. Awdry, whose son was sick with the measles, came up with some stories about a railway full of colorful characters. These bedtime stories, which helped his son feel much better, were the basis for a series of books that would eventually star one of the most popular childhood characters of all time, and one of my absolute favorites to this day! Tomorrow is the anniversary of the very first publication of the Railway Series and thus the anniversary of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends! Happy 70 years to many really useful engines!
