100 Themes Challenge - 43. DyingDissidia's Squall and Ultimecia.
This one took me nearly 3 weeks; might be 2 if I hadn't got sick for awhile. This is also the first time I draw something serious using only Illustrator, so I'm pretty much happy with the result, knowing that I'm not so terrible at vector arts after all.

There's no way to prove or disprove the theory completely. But I like to believe it, too, as it opens new ways to look at the story and characters. Plus, Ultimecia/Squall is awesome! XD

Very beautiful. It's like Ultimecia's dream come true. By the way she acted in the game, she almost seemed like she really wished for a knight of her own.

Hey, thanks! I like to think Ultimecia is not any more evil than Garden, and that she's just desperate to not be killed by SeeDs. It's a pity her wish conflicts with the Garden's goal. I think their situation reflects exactly Squall's idea of good and evil, or the lack thereof.

Yeah, there are many theories as to why Ultimecia is bad. One theory I agree with most is the 'Wicked' theory. It states that she only became bad because everyone hated her for being a sorceress. The treated her like she was evil before she was, so she decided that if they were going to treat her like the Witch, then she might as well be the Witch.

Very nice shading on the rocks. Also, the minimizing of details further into the distance has a good effect.
To further bring together the people and the environment, I'd suggest adding sharper shadows where the light doesn't hit the people (e.g. the right side of the man's face, dots of his white collar) and adding
highlights to where it does hit (e.g. the left side of the man's hair and the very front of the woman's).
The sharp contrast of light and dark black on the man's arm is a good start - the same idea should
be applied throughout the rest of the image.
As well, I'd advise against using simple flower brushes to finish the picture. It detracts from the realism.
Nevertheless, I can see you have made much improvement from your previous works and overall the composition is successful in highlighting your abilities and your attention to light and shadow. Well done!

This is... breathtaking... you say now you know you don't suck at vectors - I say you must've had some pretty wicked idea about sucking, since this is by far the most detailed and well executed vector work I've ever seen. SImply gorgeous!

Yeah that's water... though I have to admit to having done a rather unrefined job on them.
